Greetings friends,

I can’t believe it’s Easter in just a couple of weeks!

Watching the news each day, so much has already happened in just the first few months of this year that is disquieting! We live in interesting times! Values we thought were nailed down have come loose. Institutions that were trusted are no longer trusted.  

The economic and political and religious systems we kind of assumed would also be the scaffolding for our lives are looking  shaky. There are so many disruptive forces at play, and we do not know what the landscape will look like when the dust settles.

The hope of Easter is the foundational belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which signifies victory over death, sin, and despair. For Christians, it is this "living hope” (1 Peter 1:3) that provides the assurance of new life and the power for transformation in the present, regardless of the turmoil that we see. 

The Easter message is as fresh and pertinent as it ever was!

🎄🎄Christmas 2025 Newsletter 🎄🎄

Greetings friends,

I can’t believe it’s just a few short weeks till Christmas!

In an anxious and troubled world let us affirm that the Spirit of God is indeed at work in our world!  The Good News of Jesus Christ is as fresh and pertinent as it ever was!

To the shepherds in the fields the angels sang: “Peace on earth!” Shalom means wholeness — that deep sense of wholeness felt by the lonely and harried traveller who finally comes home from the pain and the ache of war; home to where they belong and are held and known and loved.

Our lives should echo the angels' refrain. We proclaim the shalom of God amongst us, “Thy Kingdom come.”

We embody God’s community of hope and compassion where the weary and broken are held and healed and made whole.

Autumn’s just about here and the leaves are beginning to colour and fall from the trees. That means Easter is not far off! 

As we come to Good Friday and then Easter Sunday take a moment to pause and contemplate the God who comes to us in Christ!

May Christ take care of us,


May the Holy Spirit enlighten us all the days of our life.

The Lord be our defender and keeper of body and soul,


both now and for ever, to the ages of ages.

December 2024 Newsletter

Greetings friends!
It seems that each year ends with our poor old world facing never-ending challenges of all sorts, and for many anxiety levels are high. And yet, the Christmas story is a story of great joy in the midst of chaos, disruption, despair and upheaval. Born in a cow-shed during a time of political and religious turmoil, the birth of Jesus is met with songs of joy by those who were thirsting for peace of God. The angels powerfully proclaim: "Glory to God in the highest heaven and on earth peace among those who he favours." (Luke 2:14)

The disruptive message of Christmas gives hope and courage; and Mary responds with a strong affirmation of joy: "My soul magnifies the Lord and my Sprit rejoices in God my saviour, for he has looked with favour on the lowliness of his servant!" (Luke 1:46-47). Go and read again the story of Christmas, and allow the words to settle deep into your heart, strengthening and renewing you, drawing you closer to our foundational story — that into this difficult and uncertain world — God entered in the form of a vulnerable child and lived amongst us, taught, healed, fed and finally died and rose again for us. New life is held out to us in Christ! John puts it: "The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighbourhood." (John 1:14 MSG).

Boutros Autumn Update!

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I was looking out our kitchen window at the magnificent maple tree and noticed some of the leaves beginning to gain their autumn colours! 

I can’t believe we are already well into March! I trust the year has begun well for each one of you! 

It seems a long time ago since we concluded our time at Diamond Valley Baptist Church. So many fond memories of a beautiful and caring community. 

This is to fill you in on what we have been up to and what’s on our plate for 2024.
