Trip Update two

Saturday morning, 6:30am got into Heathrow. We had a three hour stop-over in Abu Dhabi around 2:30am local time. Impressively modern terminal and duty free outlets.
Call me crazy, but I find Tommy Hilfiger; Bvlgari, Tag Heuer, Rolex, Chanel; Mont Blanc, Harrods and Grand Prix promos strangely un-alluring at 2:30am after a seven hour flight!
We picked up a nifty VW diesel and then headed off to 'Moreton-in-Marsh; to drop them off for their week-long Cotswolds walk. I then headed north to Sheffield for the Conference starting Monday.

The Bell Inn is said to be the inspiration for the Prancing pony in Bree (Lord of the Rings)

The Redesdale Arms  is where they will spend their first night before setting off.

Having dropped the two little Hobbits off, I headed north, past Stratford-on Avon and Nottingham, as you do. I do like the motorways here! The M1 and M40 (and others) meant most of the trip north was on four lane freeways at 115K/hour, yet in between nice little roads with hedgerows and quaint cars to boot! I think some locals found it a little baffling that I'd go ALL the way from London to Sheffield in one go! Just like my Tassie friends find it odd that a crazy mainlander might go from Devonport to Hobart without breaking the trip!
